A high school English teacher, has utilized This I Believe in her classes for the past several years, allowing her students to think deeply about themselves, their beliefs, and more amazingly share them through their own "This I Believe" essays. Every year the teacher encourages her students to submit their essays to the website, and many do, with some of her past writers making to the Featured Essays page of the site, because of their powerful and well-written essays. This year she offered all the students the choice to record themselves reading their essay, via a screen-cast, and share it with the class and the world. Adding student voice has proved to add an additional layer of feeling and perspective on the powerful essays.
The teacher has now since leveraged screencasting in order to give feedback to students. This method of feedback has shortened the time between student completion and teacher feedback that includes tone and emotion for a richer experience to push student thinking forward.
