VoiceThread, Literature and Collaboration... oh my!

A Classroom Example... Here's what Natasha Palm and Jacqueline Fox, two middle school teachers, did to have students relay their understanding of short stories using a collaborative tool. This project had students constructing their understanding and publishing their work online, associated with their chosen short story. As we all know, public display of student work can encourage positive peer pressure, build relationships, and teach appropriate and constructive means of offering feedback.

This was the teaching dynamic duo's first time trying this type of collaborative project between the two classrooms.  As the teachers reflected on the project, they would have like the students focus more on the quality and depth of the work for next time around. They would like to see the students using more imagery and less text in their VoiceThreads.  Please view this short screen-cast explaining what Natasha and Jackie had their students do in reflecting on short stories.
